Use Your Cell Phone
As A Professional
Digital Camera

Hi ,

When cell phone cameras came along most of us believed that there was no way these devices were ever going to replace digital cameras.

These days, though, a fair number of pros are using their cell phones for some professional shoots.

With built-in features and free apps Apple & Android cell phones can do things automatically (or easily after the picture is taken, such as selective focus) that can be very advantageous.

Cell phones aren't better than dSLRs. They're just different, with their own special benefits.

Check out this 30 second video. It shows how well Apple's automatic night mode works:

Other built-in features are just as amazing.
I'd like to share some easy tips on how you can get professional looking pictures from your cell camera.
Consider printing some of your best shots!

Start With Your Cell Phone's
Basic Correction Adjustments & Editing Tools

Apple & Android phones have standard features and controls that are easy to take advantage of:
The Rule of Thirds grid is very useful when you are composing your picture. Use it to align horizons or aesthetically lay out photos. (i.e. One component ... like the clouds in 2/3 of the picture, blue sky in the other 1/3.)

To have this grid appear on an iPhone: Settings > Camera > Grid (Slide to On Position) - The grid will not show on your snapped photo.

To Correct Images - Touch your photo. Then, Edit. Basic density & color corrections are easy to make. Try the Magic Wand tool first to see if that does your correction with a single touch.
Snapseed
From Google

This is a professional photo editor for iPhones & Androids.

Snapseed lets you do more advanced corrections than ones built into your phone. We suggest bringing more complex images into Photoshop.
Simple cropping & corrections of a backlit image.
Foodie
From Snow, Inc.

The Foodie camera app is the essential companion for the modern sociable foodie.

What differentiates Foodie is its simplicity. A single click and some quick movements on a slider do marvels for photos.

Picture #1 - Basic iPhone shot. Picture #2 - After a single click on the "Simple" correction on Foodie, followed by two easy slider adjustments. Picture #3 - Illustrates the detail, enhanced color & texturing that Foodie brings out.

Foodie is a very popular app among pros who are doing quick food photography. It also works well on scenics.
